CONTEMPORARY BARN

We worked closely with our client on this project which was a complete renovation of an old barn. Elegant modern furniture sits comfortably in the formal lounge and adjoining study, while in the multi-functional kitchen, sitting and dining room we installed banquette seating along the length of one wall. We added a mirror above to exaggerate the space behind the bench and 2.5 metre refectory table, providing plenty of seating and space for entertaining. As an additional wow factor we installed a wine cellar with a glass door which was seamlessly integrated into the oak flooring.

PROJECT STORY

There were a few design challenges to overcome; The client wanted to install a real fire, but unfortunately the property was unable to accommodate a chimney or flue of any kind so we introduced a bio-ethanol fire which provided a wonderful warming flame without the need for a chimney. The window treatments were also challenging in the barn as some of the windows ran through two floors on an elevation that was overlooked and adjacent to a busy road, so a good solution was required, one that let some light in whilst maintaining an element of privacy.
